About
Tim Tebow
Tim Tebow was born August 14, 1987 in Makati, Philippines — his parents were American Baptist missionaries working abroad at the time. The family later moved to Florida, where Tebow was homeschooled before playing high-school football at Nease High School.
He went on to play college football at Florida Gators. As their quarterback he gained national prominence — in 2007 he won the Heisman Trophy, becoming the first underclassman to do so, and he led the Gators to two national championships (2006 and 2008). Known for both his passing and rushing ability, Tebow was regarded as a “dual-threat” quarterback, combining athleticism, grit, and visible Christian faith on the field.
In 2010 he entered the NFL, drafted in the first round by the Denver Broncos. He had a short but memorable NFL career — including a playoff win against the Pittsburgh Steelers — before eventually stepping away from regular quarterback roles. After football, Tebow briefly pursued a professional baseball career in the minor leagues with the New York Mets organization.
Following his athletic career, Tebow has built a second career as a college-football analyst, author, public speaker, and philanthropist. Tim Tebow+2TheCityCeleb+2 He is the founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation — established in 2010 — which focuses on outreach such as orphan care, special-needs ministries, and humanitarian aid. Off the field, Tebow is perhaps best known for his public expression of Christian faith (“Tebowing,” praying on one knee on the field), which made him a polarizing but widely recognized cultural figure. Biography+1 In his post-sports life, he continues to speak, write (as a bestselling author), and engage in charitable work.
