CJ Dates

Hi, I’m CJ Dates, fundraiser, leadership nerd, recovering organic farmer, and enthusiastic Adirondack returnee. I joined the Adirondack Community Foundation after years working in nonprofits, churches, schools, and other places where coffee and “quick meetings” mysteriously turn into hour-long conversations about changing the world.

I grew up skiing, hiking, and visiting family in the Tri-Lakes area, so coming back to the Adirondacks full-time feels a bit like a homecoming… just with more email inboxes than I remember. Along the way, I earned degrees in Rhetorical Theory, Psychology, and a Master of Divinity focused on Ancient Semitic languages and culture, which basically means I can overanalyze both people and ancient texts equally well.

Most recently, I managed a certified organic farm and restoration agriculture project, because apparently fundraising alone wasn’t enough adventure. I also love travel, art, music, mystic traditions, and learning how people make meaning in life, preferably over good coffee and better conversation.
