I’m Jeff Goldberg, founder of FISH307—proof that a simple idea, a toll-free number, and a whole lot of fishing gear can accidentally turn into a global empire. Back in the early ’90s, I was running some cozy lakeside cottages in Bolton Landing and selling bait to guests who didn’t know a trout from a toaster. One thing led to another, our little bait shop grew, and suddenly I was knee-deep in downriggers, trolling equipment, and enough rods and reels to outfit a small navy.

When customers kept calling from out of town, I went hunting for a phone number that spelled “FISH.” The phone company handed me 1-800-FISH307, I said “sure,” and boom—brand identity achieved. The internet showed up, orders started flying in from everywhere, and now FISH307 ships over 40,000 products worldwide.

Today I run a thriving Lake George store, an eCommerce behemoth at FISH307.com, and a team of fishing fanatics who keep the whole operation reeling.
