Michael Phinney

Hi, I’m Mike Phinney, founder and Principal Architect of Phinney Design Group. For nearly three decades, I’ve had the privilege of helping clients bring ambitious ideas to life through thoughtful design, creative problem-solving, and a deep appreciation for how architecture shapes the way we live, work, learn, and gather.

Throughout my career, I’ve led the design of a diverse range of projects, including custom homes, hospitality destinations, commercial developments, higher education facilities, and community-focused spaces. Many of our projects can be found throughout the Adirondack region and around Lake George, where thoughtful design must work in harmony with both the natural environment and the people who experience it.

As an early advocate of sustainable design, I have helped pioneer environmentally responsible building practices across the Northeast while leading projects that set new standards for green and healthy buildings. Together with our talented and creative team at Phinney Design Group, I strive to combine innovation, technical excellence, and careful listening to create places that are timeless, functional, and uniquely tailored to each client’s vision.
